Why do you want to work as a nanny?

I am a 27 year old full-time Nanny. I am looking to babysit in evenings or on weekends. I have been babysitting for over 15 years, volunteered at a daycare center and community center in high school, and have 6 years of childcare experience as an adult (both in a care center and as a Nanny). I currently am a Nanny for 3 children (twin girls age 5 and a boy age 7). I have been with this family for 3 years. I have also worked in two day care facilities. I was a Lead Teacher for 12-18 month olds and helped in the Director's office as well as well as all classrooms (infant - Kindergarten age). I have been certified in CPR and First Aid. I am comfortable in a home with well-trained pets who need minimal care and are friendly. My focus is always the children, but I do love cats and dogs as well! My caregiving philosophy is one of consistency, patience, and encouragement. I am willing to answer any other questions and to give references upon request!

Attitude and work ethic

· I believe in setting appropriate boundaries that are clear and steady. · Children need to feel safe in their environment to thrive, and knowing what is expected of them - and consequences for not respecting those rules — is a part of that. Positive reinforcement of good behavior can stop many problems before they even happen. When rules are not followed my first choice is redirection and age-appropriate discussion of the behaviors. If the home/center follows a time-out or calm-down time, I do no more than 1 minute for each year the child is old. Each parent has their own opinion on discipline and I respect their decisions and methods. · Children need to feel loved as well. To me, this includes plenty of hugs and listening to how a child is feeling or to what the child is interested in. Teaching a child how to express themselves lets them become more secure in their environment, and listening to those expressions allows them to feel confident in their communication. · Children need to learn at their own rate. Each child is unique and has their own strengths and weaknesses. Learning a child's interests and strengths will allow you to teach the child in a way that will be meaningful to them and will allow them to feel success. Taking cues from children will also show the best times to move forward with new skills such as potty training or writing. · Children need to be read to. I firmly believe that reading every day is one of the most important things I can do.
