Why do you want to work as a nanny?

I have been a nanny in both the US and the UK for various families. I adore working with children, all of them are so wonderfully unique in their own ways, with so much to offer. Here are some details about the children for whom I have cared. The children with whom I have spent the most time range from the age of 2 to the age of 8. I was a live-in babysitter for 8 months in London, where I also nannied for another family for 5 months. In Sacramento, California, I was a nanny for two years. Watching all of these children grow has been one of the highlights of my life. All six of the children with whom I have worked very closely have been completely different and yet I have enjoyed all of them. The oldest age I have worked with closely has been 8 years old, and the youngest is 2, however I am eager to work with infants or school children as well. Overall, I have four years of nanny experience and I have been babysitting for about 7 years. Working with kids is an extraordinary experience - from helping with school projects to reading before bed; from cooking breakfast to preparing dinner, time spent with children is different every day, and while sometimes it is absolutely exhausting, it is always, always worth the experience.

Attitude and work ethic

When it comes to working with children, my attitude is that their personal wellbeing comes before anything. I would rather a child pout about having to eat their vegetables than be excited to see me if it meant they thought they were just going to eat sweets and watch TV all day. I have a very straightforward approach with children and it has always seemed to work for me, as I have developed very close bonds with all of those for whom I have cared. Whether it's playing in the park, working on an art project, or reading about the rainforest of the Amazon, children are always interested in their own unique things and I always try to develop this further when spending time with them! Physical activity is of couse very important for kids (and me!) so I always try to make sure we get a walk or scooter ride in at some point in the day. Working with kids has thus far been the most fulfilling way to pass time. I love ending the day with new stories and funny experiences! Kids are always so inadvertently poignant and funny and I truly enjoy their presence.
