Why do you want to work as a nanny?

I do not have actual nanny experience; however, I am constantly around children because of my family and friends. My godsons are ages two and six months which allowed me to gain knowledge and experience with newborns and toddlers. I have taken care of both of them for more than eight hours on many occasions. I also have a nephew who is five years old who I lived with from a newborn to the age of three. I am excellent with children because I have an outgoing personality that allows myself to connect with each child. I am constantly thinking of great activities for the children because I myself, do not like to be sitting for long periods of time. Also, I am the middle grandchild of eight which enabled me to care for children that are also between the ages of a newborn to a fourteen-year old. I would be able to cook light meals, cleaning, running errands, and help them with homework. On sunny days, I will plan at least one small activity for us to do outside whether it is a picnic or doing arts and crafts in the backyard. I enjoy furthering a child's mind by getting creative with art, music, dance, nature, and food. I am a 19 year old college student who has many options for a future career; the possibility of being a teacher is one of my top fields which is why I want to start as a nanny. I believe that I should be completely honest with potential families with my certification. Although I do not have CPR or first aid certification, I would be willing to take the steps to obtain both.

Attitude and work ethic

As stated before, I have a bubbly and outgoing personality which interacts well with children. I believe that everything must be fun when it comes to children, otherwise, they would not be interested. My work ethic and attitude come from the way that I was raised which was have fun but also know when it is time to be serious. As a nanny, I would allow children to explore their minds; however, I would let them know that because of this freedom of imagination, it does not mean that they are in charge. There is a balance that I believe I have found between discipline and fun. I will never scold a child, I believe that the adult must speak with them calmly and effectively, otherwise there would not be a conversation.
