Why do you want to work as a nanny?

I have babysat for numerous different sized families with children from the ages of 2-15. I have also tutored children in elementary school classrooms. I was the president of my big brother big sister club in high school where students became mentors for children from inner city schools. Forming a relationship with children is what is important to me and knowing that I am someone that cares and they can trust. I get immense satisfaction knowing that I am making kids happy. Compassion, good communication skills, positive attitude, responsibility, fun-loving personality and maturity are qualities I find important to be a successful caregiver. I am a sophomore at Dickinson College in PA and I am a Psychology major / sociology and education minor. I plan to direct my career plans to some field that involves working with children, perhaps education.

Attitude and work ethic

I am a very calm, easygoing person, outgoing, patient, responsible, dedicated and compassionate. I believe that all of these characteristics are evident in everything that I do. My mom raised me telling me, "that if you are going to do something, do it right", and this is something that I apply to everything that I set out to accomplish. I believe that children deserve the same respect as anyone else, and this is something that I stick to no matter the child, age, or personality. Through the various mentoring/tutoring programs I have taken part in, I have learned how to approach children, to get them to trust you, to befriend them, respect you, and look up to you. I will not tolerate disrespect or innapropriate behavior but will voice myself in an appropriate way. Although I have never had this problem. I always look forward to caring for children becuase the outcome is always positive, we both grow and learn from the experience.
