As an added benefit to our members, we personally review each and every new nanny, babysitter, and family internet profile for appropriate content before posting the profile on our site. We do not personally screen caregivers and families and encourage our members to conduct in-person interviews, run background checks, and review live references before making a hiring decision.

How do I know my information is secure?

In order to protect our users' confidentiality, we never share personal information with any 3rd party and only disclose our users' first name and last initial on our site. What is the International Nanny Association (INA) Nanny Basic Skills Exam?

NannyPro offers the International Nanny Association Nanny Basic Skills Exam to each new nanny and babysitter that joins the NannyPro community. When a caregiver successfully takes the exam, the INA checkmark is displayed on their profile.

The exam is a 40 question timed, multiple-choice exam that is available to be taken online right through NannyPro. The exam addresses Health, Safety, Nutrition, Professionalism, and Child Development.

How can I take the exam?

You will take the exam online. Please note that the exam is timed and cannot be paused or re-started at a later time. You can only take the exam once. Multiple exams cannot be purchased. The exam is restricted such that it can only be taken one time per computer. Creating a new caregiver account and purchasing a new exam will not allow you to re-take the exam. Once you submit the exam, you will immediately see your results. Please print your results for your records. 70% is a passing score. If you score 70% or better, we will automatically add the INA icon to your profile within 1 hour of exam completion.

When will I see the INA Icon on my profile?

If you score 70% or better, we will post the INA icon on your profile within 1 hour after exam completion. If you score less than 70%, we will not post the INA icon on your profile.

Can I re-take the INA Nanny Basic Skills Exam or purchase a new exam?

You may only take the exam one time. The exam cannot be paused or re-started at a later time. Please make sure you are able to complete the exam without interruptions before beginning the exam. You cannot create a new caregiver account and re-take the exam.

I forgot my password

No problem! We'll simply email it to you. If you have forgotten your password, click on the "Forgot your password" link underneath the login fields on the homepage. Clicking on this link will take you to a form where you can enter your email address. We will then email you your information.

For security purposes, you cannot change your username. To change your password, log in to your NannyPro account and click on "Account Settings". On the "User Account" tab you can change your password.

I have registered with NannyPro. Why does my information not show up on the site?

As an added benefit to our members, we personally review all user profiles and jobs before posting them to the NannyPro site. In most cases we are able to review new profiles and jobs within just a few business days. If you don't see your profile or job on the site, please check back in a few days.

Messages that are being forwarded to your account include background check related messages, messages from other NannyPro members, and messages from us regarding your membership or account.

How do I opt out of emails from NannyPro.com?

Once you've logged in to your NannyPro account, click on "Account Settings". On the "Email" tab you can update your communications settings. It is important to note that we may still send you important messages regarding your membership, account, or background checks.

How do I report another NannyPro User?

You can report another NannyPro User for inappropriate behavior or job/profile content by sending an email to support@nannypro.com. Please include the user's first name and last initial and the reason for your complaint.

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait just a little longer. Due to NannyPro's Safety and Security Policies, we only accept members who are at least 18 years old. Please come back when you turn 18! We'd love to have you join the NannyPro community!

How do I upload a photo?

Once you've logged into your NannyPro account, Families click on "My Job Postings" and Nannies / Babysitters click on "My Profiles". Next click to edit your profile. On the "Photo" tab you can upload a photo to be added to your job or profile.

How do I know that there are nannies and/or babysitters available in my area?

NannyPro makes it safe and easy to find nannies and babysitters in your area. You can search our database of nannies and babysitters by zip or postal code to see available candidates in your area. The search will provide you with a list of available candidates within a 50-mile radius from the zip or postal code you entered.

We require our nannies and babysitters to keep their profiles up to date and turn off their profiles once they have accepted a position and are no longer available.

NannyPro makes it safe and easy to find nannies and babysitters in your area. You can post jobs and wait for the job applications to roll in or you can search our database of nannies and babysitters by zip or postal code and contact potential candidates immediately. The search will provide you with a list of available candidates in a 50-mile radius from the zip or postal code you entered.

With NannyPro you can post an unlimited number of jobs for nannies and/or babysitters. Once you've logged in to your NannyPro account, click on "My Jobs". From there you can edit your job postings and create new ones in just a few simple steps. After you save your new job posting, it will be submitted for approval by the NannyPro team before showing up in the search rankings.

How do I know that the nanny or babysitter is still available?

Nannies' and babysitters' registrations stay active for 6 months. We encourage all of our nannies and babysitters to actively manage their profiles and inactivate their profile once they have found a job or are no longer looking for a position. If you find a nanny or babysitter that forgot to inactivate their profile, we encourage you to contact us and we will review the nanny's or babysitter's account.

Reviewing nannies' and babysitters' references is an excellent way to screen potential candidates and find out more about them. Review the nanny's or babysitter's full profile to find out if the nanny or babysitter has references available. Then simply contact the nanny or babysitter to request their references.

How does my Saved Profiles work?

Your Saved Profiles is a great tool to use in your nanny and/or babysitter search. When you're conducting a nanny or babysitter search, you can simply save individual nannies and babysitters to your list by clicking "Save" on a nanny's or babysitter's full profile . This makes it easy for you to pull up a nanny's or babysitter's full profile directly from My NannyPro, compare profiles, and contact saved nannies and babysitters later.

How can I save a nanny's or babysitter's profile to view later?

When you have found a nanny or babysitter that you would like to keep track of or contact later, you can save their profile in your Saved Profiles. To save a nanny or babysitter, simply click on "Save" on a nanny's or babysitter's full profile view and the profile will be saved to your list.

How do I cancel my membership?

You can close your account at any time. However, you will not receive a refund if you close before your membership is up. Click on the "Account Details" tab in your Account Settings area of your NannyPro Tools and follow the instructions on the page. It is important to note that you will no longer be able to log in to NannyPro.com after closing your account. You must create a new member account in order to use our service again.

How do I apply for jobs?

When you have found a job you are interested in and would like to apply for, simply click on "Contact"
on the family's Job Posting. If the family is a full member, you will be able to send them a message to let them know that you are interested in the position. If the family is a free member, we will send them a standard message that let's them know that you are interested in their job.

How can families contact me?

Families can easily contact you by clicking "Contact" on your full profile. If the family is a full member, they can send you a message to let you know they are interested in you for their nanny or babysitter job(s).

What are free members?

Free members are families that are conducting a free trial of NannyPro with limited functionality. Free members can post jobs and receive Interest Requests from nannies and babysitters but cannot contact nannies and babysitters and cannot reply to messages without upgrading to a full membership. Free trials are great for families to join NannyPro risk free and most sign up for full membership when they find a nanny or babysitter that meets their needs.

How can I contact a free member?

Free members are trying NannyPro risk free with limited functionality. You cannot send them a customized message with your contact information, but you can still let them know you are interested in their job posting by clicking on "Send Interest Request" on the member's Job Posting. We will then send an Interest Request to the member letting them know that you are interested in their job posting.

What are interest requests?

Families with free memberships can receive Interest Requests from nannies and babysitters that are interested in their job posting(s). To contact a free member, simply click on "Send Interest Request" on their profile and we will send them an Interest Request.

How do I update my profile?

Updating your profile is easy and you can do so at any time! Once you've logged in to your NannyPro account, click on "My Profiles". From there you can update your profile including photo, availability, experience, rate, and much more!

When does my profile expire?

In order to keep your profile active, you need to log in to your NannyPro account at least once in a 6 month period. If you do not log in for 6 months, your profile will become inactive. Your profile will automatically be reactivated the next time you log in to NannyPro.com.

Your profile is automatically inactivated if you don't log in to your account at least once in a 6 month period. If you forgot to log in and your profile is inactive, you can request to reactivate your profile by sending an email to support@nannypro.com.

What is included in a background check?

Basic Background CheckBasic Background Check

Includes a Social Security Number Verification, National Criminal Records Search, and Sex Offender Registry Search. The National Criminal Records Search represents a database search including more than 600 million criminal record files from 50 states.

Advanced Background Check Advanced Background Check

Includes a Social Security Number Verification, unlimited County Criminal Records Search including all maiden names and aliases, and Sex Offender Registry Search. The County Criminal Records Search includes real-time information from county courts in all counties that the nanny or babysitter has ever resided in.

 The Advanced Background Check represents the most comprehensive search method for conducting criminal background checks.

Education VerificationEducation Verification

An Education Verification allows you to verify a nanny's or babysitter's degree (or his/her anticipated graduation date). 

The following information is verified:

  • School attended / currently attending
  • State
  • School Type
  • Degree Obtained / To be Obtained
  • Date Received / Expected Graduation Date

Employment VerificationEmployment Verification

An Employment Verification allows you to verify a nanny's or babysitter's previous work history including but not limited to companies he/she has worked for, position(s) held and eligibility of rehire.

The following information is verified:

  • Eligibility for Rehire
  • Reason for Leaving

How much do background checks cost?

Registered nannies and babysitters as well as full family members can request the following background checks:

1. Basic Background Check $9.99.

2. Advanced Background Check $49.99.

3. Employment Verification $26.99.

4. Education Verification $18.99.

How do I interpret the results on a background check?

Below are some examples of how background checks and verification services results are reported:

Basic Background CheckBasic Background Check

Social Security Number Verification:          

  • Verified - The nanny or babysitter provided a valid social security number that matches the name of the nanny or babysitter. 
  • Not Verified  - The social security number provided by the nanny or babysitter is not valid. This may indicate that the social security number returned a fraud alert, does not match the name of the nanny or babysitter, or belongs to a deceased person. This result may also indicate that the nanny or babysitter provided a social security number that doesn't belong to them.          

National Criminal Records Search and/or Sex Offender Registry Check

  • Clear - The National Criminal Records Search did not return any criminal records for the nanny or babysitter.
  • Records Found - The National Criminal Records Search and / or the Sex Offender Registry Check returned one or more criminal records for the nanny or babysitter. The details of the criminal records are included in the report.

Advanced Background CheckAdvanced Background Check

Social Security Number Verification:          

  • Verified - The nanny or babysitter provided a valid social security number and matches the name of the nanny or babysitter.
  • Not Verified - The social security number provided by the nanny or babysitter is not valid. This may indicate that the social security number returned a fraud alert, does not match the name of the nanny or babysitter, or belongs to a deceased person. This result may also indicate that the nanny or babysitter provided a social security number that doesn't belong to them. 

County Criminal Records Search:

  • Clear - The County Criminal Records Search did not return any criminal records for the nanny or babysitter.
  • Records Found - The County Criminal Records Search returned one or more criminal records for the nanny or babysitter. The details of the criminal records are included in the report.

Note: Only the County Criminal Records Search includes real-time information from county courts in all counties that the nanny or babysitter has ever resided in.

Sex Offender Registry Search:

  • Clear - The Sex Offender Registry Search did not return any criminal records for the nanny or babysitter.

How long does it take to run a background check?

Turnaround time depends on the type of Background Check or Verification Service.

Generally, the following turnaround times apply:

Basic Background CheckBasic Background Check

Generally, Basic Background Checks are completed within a few hours, but can take up to 24 hours to complete  after a nanny or babysitter requests the background check(s) or accepts a family's offer to purchase the background check(s).

Advanced Background CheckAdvanced Background Check

Generally, Advanced Background Checks are completed within 48 hours after a nanny or babysitter requests the background check(s) or accepts a family's offer to purchase the background check(s).

Education VerificationEducation Verification  &Employment VerificationEmployment Verification:

Generally, Education and Employment Verification Services are completed within 3 business days after a nanny or babysitter requests the verification service or accepts a family's offer to purchase the verification service.

Our background check provider, Acxiom Information Security Services, recommends making a hiring decision only based on background check reports and verification services that are less than 30 days old. This ensures that the most current information is taken into consideration.

Please refer to the "Run Date" on each background check and verification service report. New background checks and verification services can be requested at any time.

If a nanny or babysitter has background check(s) on file, you can request access to the background check(s) for free!

Nannies and babysitters with one or more background checks on file are indicated by the following icons:

Simply click on "Request Access to Background Check(s)" on the nanny's or babysitter's full profile. Before you can review the background check(s), the nanny or babysitter will be asked to grant you access.  As soon as the nanny or babysitter grants you access to their background check(s), we will send you a message with information on how to access the result(s).

If you are a free member, you do not have access to Background Checks. Please upgrade your account to be able to request background checks today!

Can anyone see my background check on NannyPro?

Before a family can see the details of your background check(s), they must first request access from you. It is up to you to grant or deny access to your background check(s). So, you always have control over who sees your background check(s). You can even withdraw a family's access later.

Having a completed background check on file draws attention to your profile and makes you stand out as a trustworthy nanny or babysitter. So, take advantage of being able to share your background check with families looking for a nanny or babysitter!

When a family offers to buy one or more background checks for you, you have the option to accept or deny the offer. However, we highly recommend you accept the offer since this is a great opportunity to run a background check on yourself that doesn't cost you anything!

In order to protect our users confidentiality, we recommend you rely on the NannyPro.com internal messaging system to communicate with other NannyPro.com members. This allows you to keep your personal email address confidential.

 Avoiding Scams

Care providers should be extra cautious if they receive messages offering employment and advance payment by check without an interview with the family or even a phone call. This is a common internet job scam, which occasionally targets sites offering babysitters, nannies, and other care providers.

We have put together a list of tips to help you avoid such job scams:

  • Never accept payment from a care seeker without having first met and interviewed with the person.
  • Never give out your social security number, credit card or bank account information to a care seeker. (NannyPro.com may requests your SSN in order to run a background check but we do NOT store your SSN in our system once the check is complete.)
  • Never accept payment by check for an amount which is greater that what you agreed upon. Never wire money back to someone who pays you by check.
  • To protect your privacy, use the NannyPro.com internal messaging service to communicate with care seekers, rather than giving out your personal email address.
  • If an offer sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
